Creating your course selection

A typical semester in a French university is 30 ECTS. Most of the classes count for 3 or 6 ECTS, which correspond approximately to 25 and 50 hours taught in class, respectively. Students are expected to work at least an equivalent amount of time at home.

Tutorial to create your course selection in our Department of Chemistry and Biology for exchange students:

1. Check the Catalog Explore the course list available for exchange students. Look for courses designated as "open for exchange students." This will guide you toward suitable options.

2. Be Aware of Modifications: Keep in mind that there might be modifications in terms of course availability and choices for exchange students.

3. Consider Language Requirements: Ensure you have a good command of written and spoken English or French depending on the course in order to follow lectures and complete assignments.
 

Summary of the course options available to you while staying within the 30-credit limit:

Departmental Course: You are required to take classes within your department.
+ 1 Sports Course: Each semester, you can choose one sports class. OPTIONAL for 3 ECTS
+ 1 French Course: You can take a French class, but it is only available for one semester. OPTIONAL for 3 ECTS
+ 2 courses from another department within UGA except INP, DSDA, Sciences Po, School of Architecture, USMB OPTIONAL
+ 1 Optional Cross-Disciplinary Course: Additionally, you can select an optional cross-disciplinary course every semester. OPTIONAL for 3 ECTS
